Stop the F-35! A Community Meeting

MEETING TO STOP THE F-35

The Air Force is planning to base its next generation fighter plane, the F-35, at our airport. This new plane is estimated to be about twice as loud as the F-16.

The estimate of the cost of building the F-35 planes has now climbed to 382.4 billion dollars, and it will cost at least twice that much to fly them. Although no other country has anything comparable on the drawing board, the Pentagon wants to spend over a trillion dollars on the F-35 program. That's TRILLION! Good news for the defense industry warlords, but many of us can think of better uses for that money.

Local boosters say this boondoggle will bring jobs to our area, but in fact it is Air Force policy to outsource all maintenance to other parts of the country, so the only new jobs will be some temporary construction work tearing down some moderate income housing and paving a bigger runway.

If you are opposed to this plan, you are invited to a meeting of local
people who want to stop it.

EVERY TUESDAY 6:30 PM, LAFAYETTE 200, UVM CAMPUS, BURLINGTON
